Katie Mattesich is a native Sacramentan. After a childhood filled with writing plays, moviemaking, and political debates with her neighbor and best friend Mac, she headed off to college at UC Berkeley. She earned a double major in Political Science and Psychology, and then moved to San Francisco.
After a stint in marketing research and living the fun city life, she returned to Sacramento for law school. At Pacific McGeorge School of Law, she served as a Moot Court Honors Board member, focusing on international law by competing in the 2010 Pace International Criminal Court Moot Competition and the 2010 Niagara International Moot Court Competition. Having a passion for women’s rights and leadership within her community, she also served as President of Women’s Caucus, where she was able to fundraise and send herself and three other members to a national women’s law conference in Chicago. She graduated with distinction in 2010, and subsequently moved to Geneva, Switzerland to work as a legal fellow at International Bridges to Justice, a human rights NGO.
Since her return to California, she has been having a blast collaborating with the RTP team and has enjoyed the challenges of event planning. Oh, and the RTP Happy Hour meetings, too of course! In her spare time, Katie enjoys dancing, outdoor adventures, and travel. And the occasional Star Trek episode.
