3/18: CONFESSION
At The Cross Roads @ Vessel
The mission of At The Crossroads is to reach out to homeless
youth and young adults at their point of need, and work with them
to build healthy and fulfilling lives. Our innovative model
focuses on young people who do not access traditional services
and are disconnected from any type of consistent support. We work
with young people who others have given up on, who would not get
help without us. We remove common barriers to service by bringing
our counselors onto the streets, and shaping our support services
around the needs of each individual client. Our goal is to help
our clients build outstanding lives, not just lives of
subsistence.

5/20: CONFESSION
Strive For @ Vessel
Strive For was founded in 2009 by Dennis Lyandres and his brother
Paul. The goal of the non-profit is to provide mentorship for
Foster Youth, including LGBTQ youth, in the Bay Area. According
to Dennis, there are about 25 mentorship organizations in San
Francisco alone, all of which have wait lists and none of which
serve the particular needs of Foster Youth. For example, about
40-60% of former Foster Youth become homeless within 18 months
after they leave the system, and they more often suffer from
post-traumatic stress disorder than veterans of war.
